February roundup

With the grass gallops being opened in Newmarket, and occasionally some weather that doesn’t feel like the depths of winter, we are starting to dream of spring and the start of the turf season.

On the track, Aspire To Glory, Penelope Valentine and Sun Keeper have kept us among the winners, with the two fillies scoring at Wolverhampton and Kempton respectively, while Aspire To Glory was successful at Wolverhampton. Sun Keeper has progressed with each start, and following an encouraging start to life in handicaps over five furlongs at Newcastle, she stepped up nicely to win at Wolverhampton over six furlongs under Dougie Costello.

Penelope Valentine also broke her maiden tag under Dougie Costello, pulling well clear to win by nearly five lengths at Kempton over seven furlongs. Like Sun Keeper, she can hopefully keep progressing and give owners The Rogues Gallery plenty more fun.

Aspire To Glory travelled supremely well when recording his latest victory at Wolverhampton for Kieran, and hopefully with that win under his belt he can pick up another victory in the near future.

The Dubai Carnival is nearing its climax, and Cairo gave a fantastic account of himself in the Group 3 Dubai Millenium Stakes, finishing an excellent second under Silvestre de Sousa. He then ran another commendable race in the Group 2 Singspiel Stakes and we will look forward to him and the rest of the Dubai team returning home.

With the grass gallops now in action, our bunch of two-year-olds have been out to experience working on the turf in Newmarket, and they continue to progress and excite in equal measure!

If you want to join in the excitement, then shares are available in one of our two-year-olds, an as yet unnamed filly – Far Above x Teeba.

A precocious, athletic and forward filly, she has been pleasing on the gallops and is showing plenty of ability in her work. She is set to take in a barrier trial at Lingfield in March, so should be ready to make her debut in the first half of the season.

Her dam, Teeba, was placed at Listed level over a mile, and she has proved a good source of winners as a broodmare at a range of distances. There is a lot to like about this filly for this season and beyond, and if you want to get involved then don’t hesitate to get in touch.
