Naana’s Diamond a new Pattern winner

It’s something out of the ordinary when your first winner as an owner is at Listed level, even more so when it’s in Italy, but that’s the position John Hall found him in at San Siro in Milan!

John’s filly Naana’s Diamond became out second Listed winner in Italy this season –  following on from Ziggy’s Dream in May – and in good style, coming nicely clear with the well-backed second. Her UK form has worked out with the third at Ascot winning easily afterwards and she’s a really nice filly to plan a campaign with through the summer and autumn. Congratulations to John who has another useful-looking unraced two-year-old still to come.

We were also delighted with the performance of another filly closer to home with Asteverdi taking apart a useful-looking fillies’ handicap at Sandown as the rain absolutely poured down! We’ve always liked her and had even hoped she’d give us and her owners Roudee Racing a live chance in the Sandringham at one point, but having taken a while to get over her heavy-ground effort at Thirsk the big race just came a couple of weeks too early. Her efforts in Esher have however marked her down as a progressive three-year-old, and we’d have our eye on the fillies’ handicap at Glorious Goodwood for her now. We’d like to think she’d head there with a realistic chance of being our first winner at that festival.
